Engaging with the community

Soraiku

JAL SKY employees actively participate in Soraiku, the JAL Group’s next-generation educational program.
Conveying the splendor of the sky and the benefits of working at an airport to students attending local schools offers a chance for the students to consider their futures. JAL SKY’s participation in career education contributes to building a better society and aligns with the JAL Group’s ESG management initiatives.

JAL Origami Paper Airplane Class

Qualified JAL SKY employees take an active role in the JAL Origami Paper Airplane Class, where participants can have fun while learning about the mechanics of airplanes.
By making origami airplanes, the class encourages communication among participants and helps expand the JAL fan community.

The Narita Gion Festival

A major event in Narita, it marks the arrival of summer and attracts around 450,000 spectators every year.
During the three-day event, around 200 JAL Group employees help with pulling festival floats and handling crowd control.
The event deepens connections not only among employees but also with the local community.

The Haneda Festival

On the final day of this three-day festival at Haneda Shrine, the 14 local town councils hold a mikoshi (portable shrine) parade.
You won't want to miss the evocative fishing flags or the dynamic yokota-katsugi style of carrying the mikoshi.
After the parade, more than 100 JAL Group employees distribute fans, manage water stations, and help with the cleanup efforts.

The Tako Hometown Hydrangea Festival

In June each year, visitors can enjoy around 10,000 colorful hydrangeas in full bloom along the Kuriyama River in the heart of the town of Tako.
The JAL Group hosts an interactive booth for children, with children and adults alike enjoying the community interactions.

I’ve participated in many volunteer activities throughout the year, including beach cleanups and float pulling at summer festivals, local field days in autumn, and handbell concerts in winter.
In addition to experiencing a different sense of fulfillment from what I do at work, I also recognized the importance of corporate involvement in community contributions, so I helped to prepare materials to promote these activities within the company.
Moving forward, I hope I can continue to engage in community initiatives while developing meaningful connections with locals.

I participated in local cleanup efforts, a uniform-wearing experience for children, and the Origami Paper Airplane Class.
The cleanup efforts offered me a great chance to interact with the local community while also contributing to the SDGs.
Seeing the excitement on the faces of the children and their families during the uniform experience and Origami Paper Airplane Class reminded me again that airplanes will always be a source of wonder and excitement.
Through these activities, I hope to continue supporting the development of the local community while also making JAL fans out of more people.
